Delta Police Arrest Apprentice Over Ritual Killing of Minor
The Delta State Police Command has arrested Destiny Ogbeh, an apprentice to a native doctor, for his involvement in the ritual killing of an eight-year-old boy, Progress Agidi. The tragic incident took place on Saturday, November 14, in Owa Alero, Ika North-East Local Government Area of the state.
State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Wednesday. He explained that Ogbeh, under the instruction of his master, a native doctor lured the young boy to a secluded, uncompleted building where he was murdered for ritual purposes.
According to Edafe, Destiny Ogbeh works as an apprentice for a native doctor. Another native doctor friend asked him to find a small boy for a ritual, saying he wanted to take something from him. Ogbeh then lured his neighbor’s eight-year-old child, Progress Agidi, to the native doctor, who killed the boy in the uncompleted building.
In a video confession shared by Edafe, Ogbeh explained that his master had specifically asked him to find a minor. Ogbeh claimed that he tricked Agidi by asking him to help collect firewood. He then took the boy to the building, where they were picked up by a motorcycle belonging to the native doctor.
“When I saw him, I told him to help me fetch firewood. The man then came with his motorcycle, and we went to an uncompleted building. I was told to wait outside while the man took the boy inside. When I returned, I found that the boy had been killed and immediately fled the scene.” Ogbeh said.
After discovering the murder, Ogbeh reported himself to the police. The police have launched a manhunt for the native doctor, identified only as Jonah, who remains at large as investigations into the case continue.
