Supreme Court to Rule on President Tinubu’s Removal Today
The Supreme Court of Nigeria is set to rule today on a fresh suit seeking the removal of President Bola Tinubu from office. The suit, filed directly at the apex court, challenges the President’s eligibility to hold office and alleges abuse of power.
The case was brought forward by Ambrose Owuru, a candidate in the 2019 presidential election under the platform of the Hope Democratic Party (HDP). Owuru is asking the court to declare President Tinubu unqualified to hold office on two main grounds: alleged non-qualification to assume the presidency and abuse of the office in violation of the country’s laws.
The case has now attracted widespread public attention, following a series of past suits, with political observers closely watching the outcome of this high-profile legal challenge.
