Joel Onowakpo Coasts to Victory in Delta South APC Primary

Incumbent lawmaker representing Delta South Senatorial District, Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket for the 2027 general elections after emerging victorious in the party’s primary election on Monday, May 18.

The results, announced by Ifeanyi Osuoza at the party’s collation centre returned Joel-Onowakpo an overwhelmingly winner, polling 87,805 votes over his closest rival, former House of Assembly member, Michael Diden popularly known as Ejele, who scored 30,798 votes.

Joel-Onowakpo swept the seven declared local government areas, consolidating his grip on the APC ticket ahead of the general election.

Results from Diden’s native Warri North Local Government Area were not enough to overturn the wide margin Onowakpo had established after sweeping 7 out of the 8 LGAs which make up Delta South Senatorial District.
