POLICE

The personal driver of a Pentecostal bishop of End-Reconciliation Ministry in Asaba, Delta State, has been arrested for allegedly killing his employer and stealing his Toyota Prado Jeep.

The suspect was apprehended alongside another man in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, while allegedly trying to sell the stolen vehicle.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu, disclosed this during a press briefing at the state police headquarters in Awka on Wednesday.

According to the CP, operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, carried out a swift intelligence-led operation that led to the arrest of the bishop’s driver and the suspected buyer of the vehicle.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver allegedly conspired with other criminal elements, who are currently at large, to murder the cleric before fleeing to Anambra State with the victim’s Prado Jeep for sale.

The police commissioner added that investigations are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang involved in the killing and uncover the full circumstances surrounding the bishop’s death.
