The Olu of Warri (of Delta state, Nigeria), His Majesty, Ogiamẹ Atuwatse III, CFR is set to grace the 2026 Julius Maada Bio Leadership Colloquium and African Young Leaders Convergence alongside an array of prominent African leaders, policymakers, youth advocates, and innovators in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

The President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio will feature as Special Guest of Honour in the anticipated continental gathering, scheduled for May 12–13 at the Bintumani Conference Centre, Freetown.

Also expected at the colloquium are Joyce Banda, former President of Malawi, and Patricia Scotland, former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.

The programme is themed: “Reimagining African Leadership: Courage, Accountability, and Innovation in an Era of Global Uncertainty.”

The attendance of the Olu of Warri has generated excitement among delegates and youth groups across Africa, with many viewing his participation as a reflection of the growing influence of traditional institutions in conversations surrounding governance, youth empowerment, innovation, and Africa’s development trajectory.

President Bio is expected to lead discussions focused on democratic governance, accountable leadership, innovation, and Africa’s response to mounting global challenges.

Participants are expected to engage in keynote sessions, panel discussions, networking opportunities, innovation showcases, cultural exchanges, and youth-focused conversations aimed at shaping Africa’s future.

The digital campaign surrounding the event is intended to extend conversations beyond the conference venue and create a broader Pan-African movement focused on courageous leadership, accountability, youth inclusion, and innovation.
