ADC Fixes May 25 for Presidential Primary
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled its timetable for the 2026 primary elections, setting out a detailed sequence of activities from nomination to final ratification. The schedule, contained in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, outlines key deadlines for aspirants and party organs ahead of the polls.
Nomination forms will be available between May 5 and May 10, with submission slated for May 11 to May 13. The party fixed May 14 and May 15 for screening of aspirants, while results are expected on May 17. Appeals arising from the exercise will be handled from May 18 to May 19, with the final list of cleared candidates due on May 20.
The primaries will begin on May 21 with legislative contests at the ward level, covering State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats. Governorship primaries will follow on May 22, while the presidential primary is scheduled for May 25. This will be followed by a National Executive Committee meeting on May 26 and a Special National Convention on May 27 to conclude the process.
ADC also released its nomination fees, placing the presidential form at N100 million and governorship at N50 million, while Senate, House of Representatives, and State Assembly forms are pegged at N20 million, N10 million, and N3 million respectively. The party introduced a 50 percent discount for youths and a 25 percent reduction for women and persons with disabilities, urging strict compliance with the outlined timetable.
