Court Bars INEC from Recognising ADC Caretaker Congress

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to refrain from recognising or engaging with any congress organised by a disputed caretaker leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The order, issued on Wednesday by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, also prevents former Senate President David Mark and other influential figures from вмешing in the operations and tenure of elected state executives, thereby upholding their continued authority.

The decision comes amid a deepening leadership tussle within the party, intensifying the struggle for control of its structures as political activities begin to build.

The case was instituted by Norman Obinna and six others, acting on behalf of state chairpersons and executive committees of the party.
