Police Arrest Four Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Firearms in Asaba
The Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers and recovered two firearms during separate stop-and-search and patrol operations in Asaba.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on April 23, 2026, around 4:25pm, intercepted a 28-year-old man, Chinoso Igwemma, along the Ugbolu/Asaba Road during a routine check.
Edafe said the suspect’s suspicious behaviour prompted a search, which led to the recovery of a fabricated Beretta pistol. He noted that swift action by the operatives likely prevented a violent crime, adding that the suspect is currently in custody and assisting investigations.
In a separate operation in the Bonsaac area of Asaba, Crack Squad operatives stopped a tricycle carrying three men identified as Umuadi Benjamin Chinecherem (30), Nwabueze Kelvin (28), and Okonkwo Celestine (30).
A search revealed a locally made cut-to-size pistol loaded with a live cartridge. The police said the suspects are linked to criminal activities, while investigations continue to track their network and possible accomplices.
