Delta Police Officer Accused of Shooting, Teargassing Barbershop Over Missing EarPods

Tear Gas

A petition has been submitted against a police officer attached to the Delta State Police Command following an alleged violent incident at a barbershop in Asaba.

The complaint, filed by Emeka Ikoro to the Inspector-General of Police and the Delta State Police Command, stated that the officer had visited ModaCave Salon on Okpanam Road, opposite the Parliament building, for a haircut on April 6, 2026.

The situation reportedly turned tense after the officer discovered that one of his EarPods was missing. During the confrontation that followed, he allegedly discharged a firearm toward a staff member, with the bullet narrowly missing the individual.

The petition further alleged that the officer released teargas inside the shop, affecting customers and workers, and smashed a television set before leaving. Staff members have reportedly remained fearful after he allegedly threatened to return, while authorities say investigations have begun, with photographs and CCTV footage submitted as evidence.
