Third ADC Faction Claims Party Control, Rejects Mark, Bala Camps
A third faction within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a takeover of the party’s leadership, distancing itself from both the camp loyal to David Mark and the group linked to Nafiu Bala Gombe.
At a press briefing in Abuja, the faction’s spokesperson, Don Obinna, appeared alongside 24 state chairmen and party representatives from across the country, insisting the party remains under the authority of its state leadership. The group cited a leadership vacuum following the removal of the Mark-led National Working Committee from the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The faction also rejected Bala’s claim to any role within the party, maintaining that he has never occupied a recognised office in the ADC. They argued that the party’s constitution places significant authority in the hands of state chairmen, who they say are now acting to stabilise the organisation.
To steer party affairs, the group unveiled an interim National Executive Committee headed by Temitope Ogga as chairman and Odion Kennedy as secretary, with a mandate to organise a national convention and restore internal order within the party.
