Delta Court Throws Out Isoko Marginalisation Case
A Delta State High Court in Oleh has struck out a suit claiming Isoko communities were sidelined in the 2025 state budget. The court ruled that the applicants lacked locus standi, meaning they could not prove personal interest in the case.
The court also emphasized that budget allocations fall under government policy and are not matters for judicial review. The claimants’ challenge ended as they could not show a special impact beyond that of the general public.
The case had drawn attention amid concerns about alleged neglect of Isoko communities. Legal experts point out that locus standi often limits public interest litigation in Nigeria, requiring clear evidence of personal harm.
The ruling reinforces the limits of the courts in budget matters and is expected to shape future legal actions on resource allocation in Delta State.
