Firefighters Quell Inverter-Triggered Blaze in Asaba Estate
Firefighters from the Delta State Fire Service acted promptly to contain a blaze that broke out in a building within an estate in Asaba, preventing what could have escalated into a major disaster.
The incident, which occurred at Asaba Housing Estate along the Asaba-Benin Expressway, was traced to a faulty solar inverter. Residents had earlier noticed smoke coming from one of the buildings and quickly alerted emergency responders, prompting an immediate response from the fire service team led by the Director, Dr. Eugene Oziwelle.
Reacting to the development, Dr. Oziwelle stressed the need for increased caution in handling electrical appliances, particularly high-voltage systems like solar inverters. He noted that regular maintenance and proper checks are essential in preventing such occurrences, while urging residents to prioritise safety and seek professional guidance whenever necessary.
