Over 1.16 Million Students Benefit as NELFUND Expands Access to Education

More than 1.16 million students in 270 tertiary institutions have benefited from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), following the disbursement of over N206 billion in less than two years.

Launched by President Bola Tinubu, the scheme has supported 1,164,222 students, with funds covering both tuition and living expenses.

NELFUND Managing Director, Akintunde Sawyerr, said the initiative ensures no eligible student is excluded from education due to financial constraints, while maintaining strict checks to ensure transparency.

The Tinubu Media Support Group described the achievement as a major milestone, noting that the programme’s growing reach reflects increasing public confidence and acceptance.
