ICPC Investigates Luxury Properties in Egypt Allegedly Linked to El-Rufai
Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), is reportedly examining a number of luxury properties in Egypt allegedly connected to former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Sources familiar with the probe say the properties were purchased between 2021 and 2023 and are located in upscale districts of New Cairo, an area known for high-end residential estates and gated communities.
Investigators are said to be reviewing villas in exclusive developments including Arabella Estate, Banafsek Estate, Oriana Estate, and Cairo Festival City. Property values in these locations reportedly range from about 50 million to 200 million Egyptian pounds for villas, while apartments are estimated at around 26 million Egyptian pounds.
Among the assets under review are a villa listed as House No. 113 in Arabella Estate and another at House No. 18 in Banafsek Estate. Investigators are also said to have identified multiple apartments—units 514, 515, 516 and 517 in Cairo Festival City, as well as apartments numbered 4000 and 4100 in Oriana Estate.
Officials have not made public statements on the matter, but sources say the inquiry forms part of ICPC’s broader effort to investigate suspected corruption and track assets that may have been acquired through illicit funds.
