OML 42 Communities Receive Training on PIA Benefits
Community leaders from OML 42 host areas have gathered in Ughelli, Delta State, for a strategic training programme focused on unlocking opportunities within the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
The capacity session, organised by the Center for Peace & Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) with sponsorship from NNPC Limited/NECONDE and Jones Creek Hydrocarbon Limited, centres on Host Community Development Trusts, governance structure, accountability and conflict management.
Speaking at the event, CEPEJ National Coordinator, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, stressed the need for communities to take full ownership of the PIA framework to ensure that allocated funds translate into tangible development projects.
Participants expressed optimism that the knowledge gained would strengthen leadership capacity, improve transparency in fund management and promote lasting peace between host communities and oil operators.
