Delta APC Concludes Ward Congresses Ahead of 2027 Elections
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended its members for the orderly and peaceful conduct of ward and local government congresses across Delta State. The party’s monitoring committee confirmed that the exercise across the state’s three senatorial districts was calm, well-coordinated, and free of disputes.
Hon. Simon Chukwuemeka Atigwe, Secretary of the Congress Committee, told journalists at Ward 10, Oshimili South LGA, that committee members visited several wards in Delta South, Central, and North and found the process smooth. “There has been no cause for concern anywhere we visited. The exercise has been seamless and orderly,” Atigwe said. He also praised party members for their discipline, impressive turnout, and commitment to unity.
Local government leaders and party chieftains echoed the committee’s sentiments. In Ughelli North, Council Chairman Olorogun Jaro Egbo confirmed that consultations led to the adoption of consensus candidates across all wards, noting the political maturity and unity of residents. Similarly, former Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, APC leaders in Ward 2, Owa-Alero, and other officials lauded the use of consensus in selecting ward executives, saying it promoted inclusiveness and harmony.
Women leaders in the party, including Stella Okotete, highlighted the emergence of women in key positions such as vice chairman, treasurer, welfare officer, and assistant youth leader. They emphasized that the exercise showcased the APC’s commitment to gender inclusiveness and preparation for future elections.
State APC Chairman Elder Omeni Sobotie attributed the smooth conduct and integration of party members to Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s leadership. With unity and peace evident across all 270 wards, stakeholders expressed confidence that the APC is well-positioned for a strong showing in the 2027 general elections.
