Delta APC Suspends Aniagwu Amid Internal Dispute
The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, indefinitely over alleged violations of party procedures, deepening internal disagreements within the party.
The suspension followed the circulation of a communiqué purportedly issued by Ward Executive members, announcing disciplinary action against the commissioner. The document referenced a consensus meeting said to have taken place at Aniagwu’s residence in Akumazi, Ika North East Local Government Area.
Party sources allege that the meeting produced a proposed list of ward executives for the next tenure without adherence to laid-down guidelines. It was also claimed that the Ward 7 Chairman, Mr. Chukwuka Ojinji, was not involved, despite party rules assigning the ward chairman a central role in such processes.
Insiders maintain that any executive list must be transmitted through the Local Government and Senatorial structures before being forwarded to the state and national leadership for approval. Some party members have cautioned that the dispute, if unresolved, could heighten tensions within the Delta APC.
