2027: PDP Itsekiri Leaders Rally in Warri South West
Influential Itsekiri leaders within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Warri South West Local Government Area met on Thursday, July 17, to regroup and strengthen the party’s local base following Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The meeting, held behind closed doors, brought together notable party stakeholders including Chief Edwin Olley, Tenumah Joseph O., Joe Arubi, Femi Uwawah, Arubi Emiko, David Oligida, Marian Lori, and Bridget Fregene. The immediate past Chairman of Warri South LGA, Dr. Michael Tidi, also attended in an observer role.
Party sources say the gathering focused on reviving grassroots structures and reconnecting with loyal supporters in the wards. Attendees resolved to intensify mobilization efforts and maintain party unity amid the recent political shake-up.
The goal of the meeting was to reposition the PDP and ensure it remains politically relevant, Warri Sentinel has learnt.
Plans are also underway to engage leaders from the Ijaw axis of the LGA for broader reconciliation and alignment.
Despite the governor’s exit, PDP figures in Warri South West say the party is far from weakened and are preparing to reaffirm their presence in the local political landscape.
