2027: APC’s Emami Says No Automatic Tickets for Defectors
A prominent leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Warri Federal Constituency, Delta State, Chief Ayirimi Emami, has dismissed suggestions that recent defectors to the party will be granted automatic tickets ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at his post-birthday reception on Saturday, May 23, in Warri, Chief Emami made it clear that while the party welcomes new members, internal democracy will be upheld.
“It is a lie to think that because you joined the APC, your position will not be contested,” Emami said. “Coming to APC does not mean automatic ticket. All positions will be contested”.
Chief Emami clarified that while the governorship and presidency positions are exceptions, every other position must go through the proper process.

The APC leader also reiterated the importance of unity within the party, assuring both new and long-standing members of equal treatment.
He reaffirmed his continued support for President Bola Tinubu, noting that the current economic challenges weren’t caused by him. He also maintained his commitment to working with the state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.

Reflecting on the party’s recent gains, Emami expressed optimism about the future. According to him, setbacks from the last elections had been reversed through strategic defections. He also acknowledged former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege for his contributions to the party.
Emami welcomed recent defections as a boost for the APC and endorsed President Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate for 2027, with the endorsement moved by Daniel Mayuku and seconded by Matthew Mofe Edema.
