Super Falcons Defender Denies Bribery Claims, Distances Self from Fake Facebook Account

Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre, has dismissed claims circulating on social media that she was excluded from Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after allegedly refusing to bribe football officials.

The false claim was shared through a Facebook account bearing Plumptre’s name, where a post alleged that corrupt officials left her out of the national team because she declined to pay a bribe.

Reacting to the viral post, Plumptre described the account as fake and urged her supporters to help report it, stressing that she does not own or operate any Facebook account.

The defender also publicly debunked the allegation during a press briefing with Ademola Victor TV, where she reiterated that the Facebook page responsible for the post is not affiliated with her in any way.

Plumptre called on fans and members of the public to disregard the misinformation and rely only on her verified social media platforms for authentic updates.

The Super Falcons star emphasized that the claims about bribery and her omission from the WAFCON squad are entirely false, warning against the spread of fake news and impersonation on social media.
