Olu of Warri Hosts 10th Ghigho Aghofen Festival
…As Itsekiri communities of Ethiope West LGA hand over guard to Orugbo community
His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri at the weekend Saturday June 22, 2024 hosted Itsekiri communities and other ethnic groups resident in Warri to his now famous Ghighó Aghọfen (plump festival) at his lush Palace in Warri, Delta State.
The festival which draws visitors, admirers and tourists from all parts of the world to Warri kingdom offers a blend of cultural bliss and ethnic harmony between the Itsekiri people of Warri Kingdom and other ethnic communities in Warri.
The themes were resplendently weaved into the grand performances by various cultural troupes as they took turns to entertain and pay homage to the flamboyant traditional ruler of Warri.
Warri Sentinel, alongside prominent sons and daughters of Warri kingdom as well as the Olu’s distinguished guests watched as Itsekiri communities of Ethiope West Local Government comprising Efurokpe, Ekuobodo, Ibrifo, Oyeaja (Aja-Omoneukanrin), Aja-Futughe, Efo, Ogunmeyin, Ajatiton, Aja-Uduaghan, Ifole, Ewuse, and Obite-Ukpagha handed over guard to Orugbo community in Warri South Local Government amidst enthralling cultural displays from the Urhobo, Ilaje, Ndi-Igbo and Ghanaian communities in Warri.
According to Chief Brown Mene, the Ogwa-Olusan of Warri Kingdom, the Itsekiri communities of Ethiope West did an excellent job keeping watch over the Olu’s Palace for three months.
Speaking on behalf of the monarch, he went further to announce that Orugbo community
will keep watch over the Palace till the 3rd coronation anniversary of the Olu of Warri Kingdom.
This Reporter learns that the third coronation anniversary of the Olu of Warri will happen in the week of August 21, 2024.
