Children’s Day 2025: Tinubu Launches Nationwide Child Protection Campaign
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday marked Nigeria’s 2025 National Children’s Day by launching a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening community involvement in child protection. The new campaign, titled “See Something, Say Something, Do Something,” calls on all Nigerians to become active guardians of children’s safety and wellbeing.
In a nationwide address, President Tinubu emphasized that protecting children is not solely the government’s responsibility but a shared duty for every community member. “Our children’s safety cannot be solely anchored on government policies but on community vigilance,” he stated. “I urge every Nigerian to become a child protection champion by participating in this new campaign.”
The campaign aligns with the Children’s Day theme for this year: “Stand Up, Speak Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation.” The President added that the theme is crucial to fostering a culture where children feel safe, respected, and heard both offline and online.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to child welfare, the President stressed the Renewed Hope Agenda as central to protecting children’s rights and nurturing their dreams. He also cited the National Plan of Action on Ending Violence Against Children (2024–2030), which provides a comprehensive strategy to prevent abuse, prosecute offenders, and support victims through coordinated efforts and strong funding. President Tinubu also pledged enhanced enforcement of the Cybercrime Act to combat online bullying and exploitation of children.
The President’s announcement serves as a rallying call for Nigerians nationwide to unite in safeguarding children, reinforcing the message that every citizen has a vital role in building a safe, nurturing environment for the nation’s future.
