Delta Government to Demolish Illegal Structures at Asaba Waterfront City
Heavy machinery is set to move into parts of the Asaba Waterfront City as the Delta State Government intensifies efforts to clear illegal developments from the project site.
During an inspection tour, the Special Project Director, Hon. Barr. Victor Ebonka, declared the entire Waterfront City land a restricted government area, warning developers and the public to stay away.
Ebonka explained that the land was lawfully acquired, fully gazetted, and that compensation had been paid to original landowners, leaving no room for private claims or informal sales.
He noted that some individuals had been misled by land speculators exploiting the project’s profile, advising prospective buyers to always verify land status through the Ministry of Lands and Surveys and other relevant agencies.
Illegal structures and fences, he said, have already been marked for demolition, with occupants not entitled to statutory notices. He added that ongoing excavation works are preparatory steps for land reclamation, as North China Construction Company and Falklands Nigeria Limited advance plans for the Waterfront City and Niger City developments.
