Activist Accuses Uvwie Task Force of Extortion, Abuse

Uvwie task force have been accused of extortion and abuse following claims that two women were unlawfully detained and forced to part with a large sum of money during a traffic-related encounter.

Human rights activist, Comrade Israel Joe, said the incident occurred along the PTI–Ebrumede axis, where the women were reportedly apprehended by task force officials and subjected to inappropriate treatment before being taken to a POS outlet.

According to Joe, the women were compelled to transfer ₦300,000, which was allegedly collected by an agent linked to the task force. He said the information was passed to him through a mutual acquaintance of the victims.

The activist has since alerted relevant authorities, calling for swift investigation and sanctions against those involved, warning that silence or inaction could encourage further violations and erode public confidence in enforcement bodies.
