Super Eagles Winger Samuel Chukwueze Loses Mother

Barely days after Nigerian football mourned the loss of Wilfred Ndidi’s father, the Super Eagles family has been hit by another tragedy following the death of Mrs. Sarah Chukwueze, mother of international winger Samuel Chukwueze.

Family sources confirmed that Mrs. Chukwueze passed away in the early hours of Thursday, January 29, 2026, after a brief illness. Her children, Princess and David Chukwueze, announced the development through separate social media posts, drawing an outpouring of sympathy from fans and colleagues.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) joined in mourning, with its General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, acknowledging the late matriarch’s influence on the career of the AC Milan star, noting that Samuel often spoke of his mother’s guidance and sacrifices.

Sanusi offered prayers for comfort for the Chukwueze family and eternal rest for the deceased, describing the moment as a painful period for Nigerian football.
