Delta Coaches Hold Summit Ahead of 2026 Niger Delta Games

Delta State has ramped up preparations for the 2026 Niger Delta Games with a high-level meeting involving coaches and technical officials from 17 sports. The session was aimed at sharpening the state’s competitive edge ahead of the festival scheduled for February 20–27, 2026, in Benin City, Edo State.

At the meeting, coaches were directed to ensure that only top-performing athletes emerge from transparent and competitive state trials. Officials stressed strict compliance with the technical rules of the Games as Delta seeks to improve on its second-place finish at the inaugural edition.

Meanwhile, the Main Organising Committee has inaugurated Abia State’s Liaison Committee, tasking it with overseeing registration and trials. Organisers warned that age falsification or incomplete team entries could lead to disqualification.
