Delta Police Arrest Two in Retired Judge’s Murder Case
The Delta State Police Command has reported major progress in uncovering those behind the murder of retired Justice Ifeoma Okogwu in Anambra State. Investigators said a security guard, Godwin Mngumi, was arrested after police intelligence linked him to the crime and led to the recovery of the victim’s mobile phone.
Further inquiries led officers to another suspect, Nnaji Obalum, while efforts are ongoing to capture a third man believed to have taken part in the attack. The police say the arrests mark a turning point in the ongoing homicide investigation.
In a separate security initiative, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Delta State has rolled out a strengthened Female Squad ahead of the festive season. Commandant Chinedu Igbo said the unit was formed to intensify protection around schools and critical facilities across the state.
The team, led by ACC Ijoma Sam, began duties with patrols from Koka Park to several secondary schools where administrators called for regular visits. According to the NSCDC, the move aligns with national safe-school directives and aims to guarantee secure learning environments throughout the holidays.
