Fire Breaks Out at Sapele Main Market

A fire erupted on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at a section of the Main Market in Sapele, Delta State, but was swiftly doused thanks to the prompt action of passersby and intervening fire-service personnel.

Officials say the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing flames spread quickly before emergency responders arrived.

Their timely intervention prevented the fire from spreading further, potentially averting a much larger disaster.

As at the time of this report, there have been no reports of casualties. The swift response, however, has been credited with containing the damage and restoring calm to the market.
