Urhobo College Wins 2025 Zenith Bank Delta Principal’s Cup

Urhobo College, Effurun, has emerged champions of the 2025 Zenith Bank/Delta State Principal’s Cup after edging past Ogbe-Ijoh Grammar School, Ogbe-Ijoh, 2–1 in a thrilling final match on Thursday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

The victory earned Urhobo College a brand-new bus and a ₦2 million cash prize, while Ogbe-Ijoh Grammar School, the runners-up, received ₦1.5 million.

Speaking at the grand finale, the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, congratulated the winners for their outstanding performance.

Represented by his Deputy, Monday Onyeme, the Governor said the initiative aligns with his administration’s MORE Agenda, which emphasizes youth development and creating opportunities for young Deltans.

He expressed gratitude for the successful completion of the competition and commended all participating teams for showcasing talent, unity, and sportsmanship.

The Governor further revealed plans by the state government to introduce a special programme aimed at identifying and nurturing football talents discovered through the Principal’s Cup, with the goal of developing players for state, national, and international opportunities.

In her remarks, Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, described the tournament as a classroom-supportive initiative that continues to promote unity, discipline, and excellence among students across Delta State.
