Tinubu-Kwankwaso 2027 Alliance Possible – NNPP
A spokesperson for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Ladipo Johnson, has confirmed that discussions are underway regarding a potential political alliance between President Bola Tinubu and former NNPP presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking in a tv interview on Monday, Johnson stated that it would not be disrespectful for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to offer Kwankwaso the position of vice president in a possible joint ticket.
“It’s not insulting to offer him (the vice president slot); whether he accepts or not is a different thing,” Johnson stated.
He further disclosed that members of the APC have reached out to him personally, suggesting that Kwankwaso should be encouraged to consider such an offer.
Johnson, a close ally of Kwankwaso since 2013, noted that the NNPP remains open to alliances that align with its vision. “Yes, there are rumours at the moment but it is a possibility,” he said.
While describing the NNPP as a team-oriented party, Johnson emphasized that any decision would ultimately depend on collective agreement within the party.
