Delta State Government Shuts Down ‘Killer Hotel’

As part of the effort to curb criminal activities, Isoko North Local Government led by Godwin Ogorugba, has sealed off a hotel following the tragic incident involving the kidnapping and murder of an indigene who was found dead in his hotel room.

Warri Sentinel learnt, Sunday Ogofotha, a native of the community, had arrived from Lagos on Friday March 21 to attend his brother’s burial the next Saturday.

Unfortunately, after checking into Century Home, he was robbed and killed by hotel workers, who stole cash and his three ATM cards. His family grew concerned when he did not show up for the burial on Saturday, March 22 and his phones were switched off.

The family traced Ogofotha’s whereabouts to Century Home after he had told one relative and his wife about his lodging details. Despite the hotel manager denying that he had stayed there, the family insisted on searching the premises. They discovered his body in a room after breaking down the door. He had been tied up and stabbed multiple times.

During a visit to the hotel site on Tuesday, March 25, Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area, Godwin Ogorugba expressed his sorrow over the incident.

He assured the public that investigations are underway and that those responsible will be brought to justice. “The police are actively investigating, and we are committed to uncovering the facts and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable,” he stated.

He also urged caution regarding the disclosure of further details for security reasons, reiterating that the safety of Owhelogbo and the wider Isoko North Local Government remains a top priority.

While the hotel owner, Chief Joseph Ovie Oghole and his staff remain in Police custody for further investigation, Ogofotha’s body has been deposited at a mortuary in Ozoro by the Police.
