Akpabio’s Wife Defends Husband, Rejects Sexual Harassment Allegations

Ekaette Akpabio, the wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has rejected allegations of sexual harassment made against her husband by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

In a television interview on Friday, Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senator representing Kogi Central, accused Akpabio of making sexual advances towards her. She claimed that after rejecting the advances, her motions were blocked in the Senate as a form of retaliation, and she was subjected to ongoing harassment and defamation.

However, speaking at her Abuja residence on Friday, Mrs. Akpabio dismissed these allegations as “unfounded” and “a figment of wild imagination.” She noted that both families share a long-standing cordial relationship before Akpoti-Uduaghan’s marriage.

Mrs. Akpabio also pointed out that Akpoti-Uduaghan was at her family’s residence on the day the alleged harassment occurred, 8th December 2023, further disputing the claims.

“The allegations are completely false. On the alleged date, Senator Natasha was present at her family residence. Our families have enjoyed a cordial relationship for years,” she said.
She also praised her husband for his support of women’s inclusion in government, asserting that he is a man of integrity who loves and respects his family.

Mrs. Akpabio urged women to refrain from making false accusations and confirmed her intention to seek legal redress over the matter.
Meanwhile, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, through his media consultant Kenny Okolugbo, also denied the allegations, describing them as unfounded.

The case has generated significant attention, with both sides maintaining their respective positions.
