Akpoti-Uduaghan Distributes Empowerment Tools to Women in Abigborodo
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly, has launched an empowerment initiative for women in the Abigborodo community, Delta State. The senator distributed various equipment to support the economic empowerment of local women, including deep freezers, sewing machines, and grinding machines.
The ceremony, held on January 1, is part of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s ongoing efforts to foster self-sufficiency and entrepreneurship among women and youth. According to a statement released by her Chief Press Secretary, Arogbonlo Israel, the senator’s goal is to provide tools that will help the women establish or expand their businesses, thereby improving their economic opportunities.
Abigborodo is the hometown of Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, former Governor of Delta State and Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, the Alema of Warri, husband to the Kogi Senator, adding a personal connection to the initiative.
“These items are intended to empower women to contribute meaningfully to their families and the local economy, creating a ripple effect for broader community development,” the statement read. The program also aligns with Akpoti-Uduaghan’s wider agenda of promoting grassroots development, particularly in rural areas.
Community leaders and women’s groups were present at the event, offering their praise for the senator’s commitment to uplifting the living standards of rural women. Many expressed hope that the empowerment tools would provide new opportunities for business growth and financial independence.
