Hakimi to Face Court as French Judges Uphold 2023 Rape Case Proceedings
Moroccan international and Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi is set to stand trial after a French appeals court upheld proceedings in connection with an alleged rape case dating back to 2023.
Hakimi has consistently denied the allegations.
The case stems from a complaint filed by a 24-year-old woman, who told police she was sexually assaulted by the footballer after visiting his home in February 2023.
According to investigators, the woman alleged that Hakimi kissed and touched her without consent before raping her. She said she was able to push him away and contact a friend, who later picked her up.
Reacting to Friday’s ruling, Hakimi stated on X that he had been “waiting for this trial since day one,” adding that he is looking forward to presenting his side of the story in court. No trial date has been announced.
Hakimi’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, said the decision was expected and stressed that the ruling does not imply guilt, maintaining that the PSG full-back remains firm in his defence.
Meanwhile, the complainant’s lawyer, Rachel-Flore Pardo, said the decision offers her client “relief and hope.”
The woman, who recently spoke publicly under the pseudonym “Jeanne,” said she welcomes the prospect of a trial, stating that she wants to be heard and believed.
Meanwhile, Hakimi continues to represent Morocco at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
