Edo Authorities Nab Kidnap Kingpin, Demolish Uromi Residence
The Edo State Government has arrested a suspected leader of a kidnapping network allegedly responsible for several abductions in Uromi and nearby communities.
The suspect, identified as Christian Okoduwa, is currently being held by police in Benin City.
His residence on Thursday Street, off Amedokhian Road in Uromi, was also pulled down following what authorities described as intelligence-led investigations.
Speaking on the development, the Secretary of the state security task force, Operation Flush Out Kidnappers and Cultists, Barr. John Izegaegbe, said the action was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks across the state.
He alleged that Okoduwa played a coordinating role in kidnapping operations, including bringing in suspected accomplices from outside the area.
According to him, several suspects already in custody have also implicated the alleged kingpin during interrogation.
Izegaegbe said the demolition was carried out in line with government policy against properties linked to criminal activities, adding that the administration remains committed to restoring security and ensuring prosecution of offenders.
Investigations are ongoing.
