NDC Clears Omo-Agege, Ochei to Contest Senatorial Seats in 2027
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has granted waivers to former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, and former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, clearing both to contest senatorial seats under the party’s platform in the 2027 general elections.
Omo-Agege is set to contest for the Delta Central Senatorial seat, while Ochei will run for Delta North, following their recent defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the NDC.
The development marks a major political shift in Delta State as preparations for the 2027 elections begin to gather momentum.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq, welcomed both leaders into the party and assured them of a credible, inclusive and people-focused platform to pursue their ambitions.
The party said the waivers were approved in recognition of their political experience, leadership records and contributions to democratic governance and public service over the years.
According to the NDC, both Omo-Agege and Ochei bring strong grassroots support, wide political reach and the experience needed to deliver quality representation to their respective senatorial districts.
The party also reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy, transparency and inclusion, noting that the move aligns with its broader efforts to strengthen its structure ahead of the 2027 elections and position itself as a strong alternative for the people of Delta State.
