PDP Faction Declares Sandy Onor Consensus Presidential Candidate

A faction of the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced former Cross River governorship candidate, Senator Sandy Onor, as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Chairman of the PDP Presidential Primaries Collation Committee and former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, during the collation and presentation of results at Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

The committee said the process followed wide consultations and voice votes conducted among party stakeholders across the country.

It added that Senator Onor emerged as the sole aspirant after he declared interest in the race and obtained his nomination and expression of interest forms earlier in the month.

During the exercise, Ortom said consultations were held across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory before reaching a consensus decision.

After the announcement, PDP leadership led by National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, issued a certificate of return and presented the party flag to Onor as its presidential candidate.
