Ogboru Emerges ADC Governorship Flag Bearer in Delta
The Delta State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has concluded its primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Chief Great Ogboru emerging as the party’s governorship candidate.
The exercise, which covered elections into the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and governorship positions, was held across the state and brought to a close at the party’s secretariat in Asaba.
Announcing the outcome, Chairman of the ADC Primary Election Committee, Prof. Patrick Sambo Williams, praised party members, delegates and aspirants for their conduct throughout the process, describing the primaries as peaceful, organised and successful.
Williams stated that the party provided equal opportunity for all contestants in accordance with the ADC constitution and laid-down electoral guidelines, noting that the process reflected the party’s democratic values.
He disclosed that two aspirants — Chief Great Ogboru and Dr. Emmanuel Unuafe — contested for the governorship ticket, with Ogboru polling 38,151 votes, while Unuafe secured 1,182 votes.
“Having scored the highest number of valid votes cast in the primary election, Chief Great Ogboru is hereby declared the winner of the ADC governorship primary election,” Williams stated. He added that the successful conduct of the primaries demonstrates the party’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency and fairness.
