Delta State is set to host its 2026 Economic and Investment Summit from August 3 to 5, with government officials and business leaders positioning the event as a major platform to attract both local and foreign investment into the state.

The summit, themed “Harnessing Our Strengths and Unlocking Our Potentials for Economic Development,” is expected to bring together policymakers, investors, development partners, captains of industry, and members of the international business community to explore investment opportunities across key sectors of the state’s economy.

Among prominent personalities expected at the summit are Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who will serve as keynote speaker, renowned Kenyan scholar and public intellectual Patrick Lumumba as special guest, and energy executive Austin Avuru, who will chair the summit.

Organisers say the gathering will focus on showcasing Delta State’s economic potential and strategic advantages, particularly in areas such as maritime trade, energy, agriculture, manufacturing, and infrastructure development.

The state is expected to highlight assets including its four seaports, vast natural gas deposits, operational Special Economic Zone, and expanding agro-industrial base as part of efforts to position Delta as a major investment destination in Nigeria.

The summit comes amid growing efforts by subnational governments across Nigeria to attract private capital and stimulate economic growth through investment-driven partnerships and infrastructure expansion.
