Delta Basic Schools To Receive New Infrastructure

Delta State Government

The Delta State Government has commenced plans to provide desks, chairs and other critical infrastructure for public primary and secondary schools across the state as part of efforts to improve learning conditions.

Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, disclosed this during an inspection visit to Setal Consolidated Enterprises, the company handling the production of the school furniture.

Aniagwu said the initiative was in line with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to strengthening the education sector through sustained investment in classrooms, laboratories, libraries and other instructional facilities.

According to him, the intervention followed a comprehensive assessment of schools across the state to identify gaps in furniture and infrastructure.

He explained that distribution of the furniture would be based strictly on the needs and population of each school, noting that the exercise would be carried out in phases across the three senatorial districts.

The Commissioner for Primary Education, Rose Ezewu, said the ministry had already completed inventory and assessment of schools requiring furniture to ensure fair allocation.

Managing Director of Setal Consolidated Enterprises, Suru Salami, revealed that over 2,600 out of 3,800 furniture units earmarked for the project had already been completed ahead of distribution.
