FG Introduces Computer-Based NECO Examinations to Curb Malpractice
The Federal Government has announced that the National Examinations Council (NECO) will begin conducting computer-based examinations this year as part of efforts to reduce examination malpractice and modernise Nigeria’s assessment system.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, made the announcement on Thursday during NECO’s 25th anniversary celebration in Abuja.
He said the shift to a technology-driven examination system represents a significant move toward improving the integrity of public examinations and aligning Nigeria’s education standards with global best practices.
According to him, the new model will help authorities to “monitor candidates in real time, detect suspicious activities and reduce examination fraud.”
