Itsekiri Progress Club Elects New Leadership at 18th AGM

A new leadership has emerged in the Itsekiri Progress Club following its 18th Annual General Meeting held on April 26, 2026. Members of the club elected a fresh National Executive Committee to oversee its activities for the next four years.

Chief Patrick Yalaju was elected Chairman, with Chief Solomon Arenyeka as Vice Chairman and Mr. Godwin Oris Okotie as Secretary. The executive team also includes Dr. Bawo Boyo as Assistant Secretary, Dr. Duakpenmi Andrew Ayu as Financial Secretary/Treasurer, Chief Eugene Abidemi Ikomi as Publicity Secretary, Mr. Justice Akuyoma as Assistant Finance/Treasurer, Engr. Dr. Silver Ejejigbe as Welfare/Organising Secretary, and Barr. Eyitemi Fregene as Legal Adviser.

Speaking on behalf of the newly elected NEC, Yalaju expressed gratitude to members for the mandate given to the new team, assuring that the executive would remain committed to the ideals of the club. He noted that service to the Iwere Kingdom would remain a key priority under his leadership.

The new chairman also paid tribute to the outgoing Chairman, Dr. Tosan Popo, acknowledging his efforts in guiding the club. He added that with unity and cooperation among members, the incoming leadership is positioned to achieve its goals.
