Technical Glitches Disrupt 2026 UTME in Ughelli Centres

The 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) began across Nigeria on a shaky note, as candidates in parts of Delta State encountered technical setbacks that hindered the exercise.

In Ughelli, several candidates posted to Michael and Cecelia Ibru University in Agbarha-Otor and Adams Igbudu Christian Institute, Emevor, were unable to take the examination following reported server downtime and faulty computer systems at the centres.

Frustration trailed the situation, with candidates and stakeholders urging the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to review the performance of centres in the state and sanction those that fail to meet operational standards. Questions were also raised about the adequacy of having only three centres serving the entire Ughelli North Local Government Area.

Some candidates claimed they were left without guidance after being unable to access their exams, particularly at Michael and Cecelia Ibru University. As of the time of this report, JAMB had not issued any official statement addressing the concerns.
