Wike Tells Atiku to Shelve Presidential Ambition, Dismisses ADC Venue Allegations

ATIKU & WIKE

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has urged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to shelve any plans of contesting the 2027 presidential election, declaring that there is “no space” for him in the race.

Wike made the remarks on Thursday during an inspection of ongoing road projects in Kuje Area Council, suggesting that Atiku should instead consider waiting until 2031. He added that although the former vice president had described the next election as his final attempt, he would be encouraged to run at a later time.

The minister also took a swipe at Atiku over his repeated criticisms of the current administration, maintaining that President Bola Tinubu has delivered better performance compared to the period when Atiku held public office.

Addressing separate allegations, Wike denied claims that he ordered the revocation of the licence of the Rainbow Event Centre, venue of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) national convention held on February 14, 2026. He dismissed the accusations, stating that investigations have been launched and directing his Chief of Staff to identify any official who may have been involved in obstructing the party’s activities.
