One Critically Injured as Rovers FC Bus Crash Near Asaba

A player from Rovers Football Club of Calabar is in critical condition, while several others sustained minor injuries after their team bus was involved in an accident on the Asaba-Benin Expressway yesterday. The club was traveling to Lagos for a Nigeria National League (NNL) match when the bus reportedly lost control and tumbled near Asaba.

In an official statement, the club confirmed that multiple players, officials, and staff members were hurt in the crash, with one player receiving intensive medical care. Describing the incident as “a painful moment,” Rovers FC assured that all injured individuals are receiving the best possible treatment and that the welfare of those affected remains the organization’s top priority.

The team was heading to an away fixture against Sporting Lagos, a match that had already been indefinitely postponed by the NNL board.
