Delta Govt Hails Indigenous Contractor Over Road Project
The Delta State Government has commended the contractor handling the Emevor–Orogun Road Phase II project for delivering quality work and maintaining steady progress. The commendation followed an inspection of the project in Isoko North and the Amai–Aragba Road in Ukwuani Local Government Area.
Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, said the contractor, Emo Rock Concepts Limited, has shown strong capacity in executing the project. He noted that the standard of work on the road project places the company on the same level as several international construction firms.
Aniagwu said the development strengthens the state government’s resolve to continue awarding key infrastructure projects to competent indigenous contractors. He added that the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori remains committed to ensuring that contractors deliver durable projects that provide lasting benefits to communities.
He also explained that the road construction design addresses the swampy nature of the terrain. The project includes retaining walls and the elevation of the road above the natural ground level, with more than two metres of sharp sand used to protect the road from flooding.
