Police Recover Firearms Along Sapele–Warri, Agbarho Routes

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have uncovered an illegal armoury and recovered firearms in coordinated operations across the state, intensifying efforts against criminal networks.

The breakthrough followed the arrest and interrogation of 25-year-old Dafiaga Timothy from Effurun Community in Uvwie Local Government Area 0n February 19, 2026.

A statement by Police Public Relations Officer, SP. Bright Edafe, revealed that Timothy was caught during operations by the Command’s Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) led by ASP Julius Robinson.

SP. Edafe stated that Timothy admitted to being part of a syndicate responsible for terrorising residents along the Warri–Sapele Road axis. The suspect guided officers to a hidden armoury along the Sapele–Warri Road near Adheje Community at about 5:30 a.m. on February 19, 2026, where officers discovered weapons including a locally made long gun, a cut-to-size firearm, a fabricated Beretta-style pistol loaded with five live rounds, 10 cartridges and a dagger.

In a separate patrol along the Agbarho/Warri Expressway, police apprehended 25-year-old tricycle rider identified as Aliyu Sabo after two other suspects fled. Officers recovered a locally fabricated pistol, one live cartridge and one expended cartridge from a tricycle.

Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, reiterated the Command’s resolve to sustain the crackdown on criminal elements and appealed to residents to support security agencies with timely and credible information.
