Young Woman Allegedly Killed by Boyfriend in Edjeba

What was reportedly meant to be a quiet evening together ended in tragedy after a young woman, identified simply as Habiba was allegedly killed by her boyfriend at his apartment in Edjeba, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday on Ajidi Street, has left residents of the community in shock and mourning.

The deceased had been in a relationship with the suspect, identified as Adedamola Michael Oywole, for some time and was a frequent visitor to his residence.

She was last seen on Monday buying food items, reportedly for a meal the couple planned to share before the fatal incident.

Neighbours said the quiet of the night was broken by desperate screams coming from the apartment. Alarmed by the cries, the landlord reportedly alerted security operatives.

Police officers who responded to the scene discovered the woman’s lifeless body with severe injuries inside the apartment and evacuated her remains to a mortuary. The suspect was arrested at the scene and is currently in police custody.

While some eyewitnesses and local sources alleged that the victim sustained multiple injuries, authorities have yet to officially disclose the cause of death pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the incident, spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said it has commenced a full investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
