Tipper Suffers Brake Failure in Ughelli Market

Traders and residents at Ughelli Market in Delta State escaped what could have been a major tragedy on Thursday after a tipper reportedly suffered brake failure along the busy market road at Olutu Junction.

Witnesses said the truck veered into the market area, where several traders were displaying their goods by the roadside, causing panic among shoppers and business owners.

Despite the incident, no fatalities or serious injuries were reported, with many describing the outcome as a miracle.

The incident has renewed concerns over roadside trading in the area.

Residents noted that the Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Barr. Jaro Egbo, had repeatedly urged traders to vacate the roadside and move to designated market spaces to improve public safety and ease traffic flow.

They called on traders, market leaders, and relevant authorities to strengthen compliance with safety regulations and intensify public awareness efforts to prevent similar incidents in the future.
