Police Officer Allegedly Crashes Newly Imported Mercedes SUV in Ughelli

A police officer has allegedly crashed a newly imported Mercedes-Benz SUV after insisting on driving the vehicle to a police station in Ughelli, Delta State.

According to eyewitnesses, the black SUV, which had just arrived from Lagos and was yet to be registered, was stopped by police officers during a routine check and taken to the station for further investigation over its lack of registration.

Witnesses claimed the officer ignored the owner’s objections, took control of the vehicle, and moments later crashed into a commercial tricycle.

The accident left the luxury SUV extensively damaged, while unconfirmed reports suggest that some persons sustained injuries.

The incident has triggered outrage on social media, with many Nigerians demanding an investigation and accountability.

As of the time of this report, the Delta State Police Command has not commented on the incident.
